Eyeball Work
The big day approaches. Cataract surgery. It’s coming on Thursday. My right eye. I admit I’m nervous. I mean I have two eyes. Lose one and I’m fifty percent down. Of course, the odds of anything happening are slim but they’re not zero. So, I’m staying busy, reading the doctor’s instructions, and preparing myself mentally. Oh, and asking people to pray for me. I did that when I had a hernia repair back in the 80s. Right before the surgery, I could swear I felt hands on my back. It was comforting.
Everyone I’ve spoken with who has had the surgery says it’s amazing and the healing is pretty quick. I’m ready for amazing. It’s hard to read a book these days and driving at night is an adventure especially with the advent of the new, brighter headlights made worse by trucks, where the lights are head high to me, and people in cars who fail to dim. I got a ticket for that once, and I thought it was a joke, but now that I’m older I think failing to dim your headlights could easily get someone killed.
I’m also supposed to lay low when it comes to screen time. So, that might mean a short hiatus from this little pastime of the daily blog. But I have a pretty deep archive of work dating back to 2014 when I first started, so I can fill in the blanks with historical stuff. Thankfully, I don’t really need an excuse to lay low. Resting under doctor’s orders is right up my alley. In this case, I think I can dim the lights, turn on the music, sit in my easy chair, close my eyes, and let my mind wander. It may well be just what the doctor ordered in more ways than one. Obviously, I will keep you posted.
