It’s another beautiful fall morning. Cool with a light breeze. There’s life in the plants, with blooms everywhere. The freshly mown field has a slight tint of new green. Its good to wake from a slumber to be greeted by such sights. I hope everyone is having just such a morning. It would be nice to think these blessings are shared all around.

The daughter is here for a weekend visit. We had the midnight conversation, which was a staple of every family visit I can remember from my childhood. We would arrive at some relative’s doorstep, the lights still on, tired from the road, but always ready to visit and catch up. The conversations would run until the adrenaline of the drive wore off, and everyone was ready for bed. There was never a hint that it was too late, or anyone was inconvenienced.

Later today, the oldest son will pull in and the gathering of the children will commence. We’ll play a bit of music, talk, drink a beer, grill a steak or two and bake some potatoes. There’s no schedule, just a freeform day, which is a good sort of day to have. We’ll probably walk around and look at the flowers and talk plants. Again, I hope everyone is having just such a day with blessings all around.
