Medical Day

I took a medical day yesterday. Got scoped coming and going. It appears the days of routine colonoscopies are done. Yesterday was my ten year anniversary procedure. Got a clean bill of health, relatively speaking. The endoscopy shows I need to be more serious about acid reflux. As usual, the day of prep was worse than the day of tests. They actually score you on how well you clean your plumbing. I got a nine of ten.

The saddest part about the entire day was that I didn’t get to meet up with friends and listen to music that evening. Driving was forbidden and being raised in a family of medical personnel, I follow directives. It was something to do with the anesthesia, Propofol. Wonderful, quick drug. Easy in. Easy out. I actually felt rested when I came back to my senses. But it sticks around for about 16 hours and impairs things.

The nicest part of the entire day was getting to ride around with my son the arborist. He was my designated driver home. He loves back roads, and we took some. Went by Hamilton Pool and drove a lovely switch back through a canyon on the Pedernales. A lot of Texas is rural and pretty, and wild. I suggest you get in your car and go see some of it, because it’s going away as fast as billionaires can snatch it up for houses, wineries, and distilleries. Oh, and I saw a camel yesterday. Just the sort of thing everyone should have if you have a lot of money and need something to do with it.
