One Piece

I’m happy to report I made it home in one piece, which sort of goes without saying, since I’m writing this. But sometimes, you have to state the obvious, because I guess I could have come home in pieces and still been able to type although I really believe the arrangement of the pieces would have been critical to the outcome. And if I had come home missing a piece, I might have had to wait a day or two to write about it.

Luckily, depending on your point of view, I’m all here. Although, again, that’s assuming we’re only counting physical parts because the mental aspect is something else entirely. I’m sure everyone has heard the phrase, he’s not all there, and sometimes, my sense of humor, such as it is, leaves people wondering if I am, indeed all there or here. But I believe that’s a subjective discussion with an entirely personal perspective.

But let’s return to the beginning. I’m home after a trip to Houston. Stopped for groceries on the way. I wanted salmon for dinner. Bought some. I cooked it with olive oil, kosher salt, and parmesan shredded with my new cheese shredder. It was delicious. Then I sat around in silence, except for the tv, and enjoyed being home. I guess with the tv on I wasn’t actually sitting around in silence but I’m binging a show with lots of dialogue, and you need silence to listen. As I wrap this up, the gray light of dawn on a cloudy morn is creeping in the windows. I’ll get some breakfast and then head outside to see what’s up.
