Where Are We?

If you live in Hill Country, you should be getting up in the morning and going outside. The air is cool and fine. It’s a once in a lifetime August. A wet July has blessed us with moist earth, green grass, and a bit of humidity and say what you will about it when the sun rises, it’s a wonderful feeling in the early morning with a soft breeze. Trust me, it beats dry earth and 100-degree days all to pieces. People are even finding bluebonnet’s sprouting up in their yards.

There’s some talk we’ve been picked up by an alien civilization and transported off earth and someone messed up when they set the weather controls. I’ll know more in a couple of weeks when I head to Marathon, maybe, like the Truman Show, I’ll run into the edge of the world. Although, perhaps these aliens have a more advanced technology so that as I continue to move within the bubble the universe just extends itself based on what I believe should be happening. I mean we went to Alpine a while back and the weather was wonderful there, too. Just saying, you never know.

Although maybe it’s not a question worth asking. Why worry about it? All of my friends are still here, so we appear to be in the same boat. For example, I went to hear music last night with a fine group of people and even the musicians were friends. We made a nice night of it. I wonder what the aliens think about that.  Maybe it got their toes tapping or whatever appendages they have. Maybe it will convince them we’re a species worth saving. Or maybe one day they’ll come down, sit with us, have a beer, and rock out. When they do, though, I’m not going to explain their weather mistake. I’m letting that sleeping dog lie.
