Yard Work

Had a good day yesterday. And I know, it seems as though I’m having a lot of good days recently, because I am. So, maybe I should stop referring to all the good days as good days and just get on with it. I worked in the garden yesterday. My big chore was to finish up the mulch job on the little path that now runs from the bench to the water trough. No pictures yet because I have to level the trough and re-seal it to hold water. So, there’s still more work.

I then piddled around doing little things. I weeded the garden area beside the side door that leads into the garage. Then I mowed the Tiff yard, which is struggling at the moment because a lot of the grass died last year in our hot rainless summer, and I’ve mostly got weeds. That’s a chore waiting to be done. Then I raked up all the dead leaves and oak tassels from the stone edging along the driveway under the big oaks. There’s a chore I’ve never done before. I have a feeling it was one my wife did while I was off at work because I never noticed the leaves all piled up until now.

It's amazing, when it gets down to it, how many things my partner did to keep our house and grounds looking good. I’m still discovering them and I’m beginning to wonder if I’ll be able to keep up. I’m pretty sure this is why you find lots of old people living alone in clutter after losing a spouse of long standing. It just gets to be too much. But I’m not giving up just yet. I’m pretty sure its just a matter of diligence on my part and I’m good with that. I can be diligent when I need to and apparently now’s the time.
