About Us

Gatewood Press is a small, family-owned press headquartered in the Hill Country of Texas. The Long Goodbye is our first book. John Wilson, our founder, and author of our first book, has written for the Houston Chronicle, Houston City Magazine, Texas Sports, The Christian Science Monitor, and Omni. He also has served as the director of the Book Division at Gulf Publishing Company in Houston.

He’s won awards for his fiction and poetry, including the collegiate division of The Atlantic Monthly. He also has received numerous awards during his decades-long career in industrial communication.

In 2000, John and his wife, Pharaby, founded J. Wilson and Associates, Inc., which specializes in technical editing, data management, and process management. The company also has published books and distributed titles for a variety of publishers. He is retired from an active role in the company, and it is now run by his son, Gabe Wilson.
