Another Day
The sun is rising over the San Luis Valley. An owl just drifted off from its perch on the house to hunt. The sun is rising over the distant mountains. We are on the third day of our journey. We spent most of yesterday in Santa Fe. It was my first exploration of the old town. I have no idea why or how I failed to make the effort before. One of life’s great mysteries, I guess.
The drive into Alamosa was easy, even in the dark. We drove a straight line across the flat plains of the San Luis valley to visit friends. We ate, we drank wine, we played guitars and sang songs. Magical evening for sure. I slept like a baby as if I have any idea any more how a baby sleeps. Suffice it to say, it was well enough for an old man bundled up on a couch with a great view of the night time stars. I am up now and that’s the bonus.
I think it will be another easy day as we make our way to Red River. There will probably be sightseeing because there almost always is. We have new travelers to the land with old travelers, and the ones who have gone before enjoy pointing out the sights and we enjoy looking at them. At the moment, I think the coffee is nearly done, and so am I. So, this is the end. For today. At least that’s the hope, because we never know what the future holds, do we?
