Birds in the Sky

Birds in the Sky.JPG

We had a fifteen-minute cold-front yesterday. It was fun. The sky darkened, the wind blew, a little rain fell, and the temperature dropped, ever so slightly. I guess you could say it was a pale blue norther. After it passed through, the weather looked around, shrugged and said let’s get back to business. The sun came out and the temperature warmed right up. It was a sunny afternoon.

It’s a chill 49 this morning. So, maybe it was more of a front that I thought, although it seems weird to think it just brought a batch of night time cold air as if the day and night air came in two containers and it forgot to leave behind the one for when the sun came out. If that’s the case, mother nature should get in touch with that big online retailer because its got a real handle on this delivery business. I think if they could find a way to do it they’d get into the business of delivering babies.

Which leads, naturally, into a line about storks, but only gets as far as me seeing another flock of sandhill cranes yesterday afternoon. I really do miss those birds. Maybe I’ll drive south to the old stomping grounds one of these days to see if any of the old pastureland, where the birds congregated, survives. Although, sometimes it just best to let those things live in your memory and keep on with the business of making new one, and be happy that a flock of birds flew over my head and I was there to see it. Because usually, what’s done is done.
