Completion

Well, the work is finished. The holes are dug. The piles driven to refusal. The lifting complete. Doors close with ease. Cracks retreated. Except for the patches in the concrete, you’d never know any work was done. But the house is level. An investment is protected. As a side benefit, the excess dirt was spread on a low spot in the yard. Someone is coming over this morning to finish spreading and leveling the dirt. That’s a nice touch.

I appreciate craftsmanship. I’ve had two handmade screen doors installed at my own home, and had my carport enclosed. Skilled work in all cases. This house leveling job at my daughter’s home falls in that category. It was a big, hard job, well done. In fact, the company deserves a shout out. Olshan. Might as well give props when props are due, and they’re due in this case.

It’s time now for me to head back to my own hacienda. I wish Scotty was around to work the teleporter, but it’s just me and my Camry. I’ll make the drive on Monday in hopes of avoiding the weekend crazies. There’s a football game tonight and time to spend with my son and oldest granddaughter. It’s been a good couple of weeks and this evening will be a nice exclamation point. I’ll miss the little ones, but I’ll be back. My son-in-law has a bit more to spend in the service of Uncle Sam, and I like shepherding the kids around and they like being shepherded. It’s a win, win.
