I’m floating. Doing duty in Houston this weekend. Came in for my regular dental appointment staying to be with the grand-kids. I’m also going to get my cracked windshield replaced. This is the second time in two years. The plague of gravel trucks is largely responsible. They showed up along with all the new people wanting to live in the greater Austin area, which now includes my little burg. Caught a rock on the edge of the glass. It eventually gave way. Boo!

The kids will be in school today so I’m going to do a little shopping. One thing about the big city is how many opportunities you have to buy stuff. My daughter told me yesterday that Duluth Trading company has a store in the area, and I usually buy from them online via a catalog they send. My old wallet is one of theirs and I need a replacement. I now have a mission. Fun. Missions are good. Oh, and they have a Henley style shirt I like So, I’ll check out the offerings there.

And did I mention how light the air feels when you have two young children coming up and randomly hugging you just because they can? Well, it does, and last night we sat in chairs in the backyard and watched the bats fly around eating mosquitoes and talked about the planet Venus which showed up in the night sky. Of course, it’s always there, but it was nice pointing it out to them. We’ll probably see it again tonight. And now they’re getting ready for school. And they’re off and the house is quiet.
