Keeping It Fresh
It’s sort of strange. The more I do around the house the more there is to do. Which, I guess, is just part of owning a home. There are things to do. This morning, I realized, for instance, that after power-washing the porches I’d gathered up all the little end tables that went beside the chairs. I was going to refinish them. But that little project got caught up in the bigger projects. So, they just sat in the garage. I put them back on the porch and added the chore to the to-do list.
Yesterday, I received the part I needed to fix my clothes dryer. Started on the project and realized I didn’t know exactly how the belt that pulls the drum went around it’s various turning points. Got a picture after a little research and I’ll try that today. Putting things back together is almost always harder than taking them apart. But I’d like my drier and utility room back and right now one is full of pieces of the other, and I think it’s easy to guess which is which. Not altogether bad though. Sun dried clothes smell pretty nice. Still, I need to get the drier done.
Speaking of yesterday I bought new dishtowels and a clothes hamper for the bathroom. Yee-haw! Again, these are all things that would have happened years ago if my wife would have remained in good health. She shopped as recreation and was constantly on the lookout for things to use at home. Now I’m doing it. It’s actually interesting, and I enjoyed walking around the stores looking at all the stuff and wondering, when something caught my eye, how it might look in the house. And I think I’ll keep it up because it seems to me that’s how she kept our home fresh, and I could certainly do worse than follow her example in that regard.
