Mountain Air

Went to the top of a mountain yesterday. Actually, it was only close to the top. And we rode. On a ski lift. It was fun. It took about eight minutes to reach our destination. There was a cool breeze blowing and we could see forever.  As I looked down, I thought there would never be a time when I’d think it was a good idea to ski down the slope we were riding up. I didn’t even think it would be a good idea to walk.

Once at the top, we knocked around, walked a bit, and looked over as many edges as we could find. Then we hooked it up and rode back down. It was a cool ride down as well. Great views and a nice breeze. At the bottom we sat outside and drank a beer, and I told my buddies about the time I did the same thing at the foot of the Eiger in Switzerland. And that got us talking about the movie with Clint Eastwood and none of us could remember what the movie was about. So, we just drank our beer and talked about other things.

At the end of the visit, we headed into town for the second day of the Big Barn Dance. All our friends were there again. I had an ice cream float with sarsaparilla. It was tasty. I also ate some kettle corn. I have no idea where I developed a taste for kettle corn, but I have. I was better prepared yesterday for the cool evening air compared to the day before. It made all the difference as we booked another day in the clear mountain air of New Mexico.
