One of Those Moments

Ordinarily people hesitate to admit embarrassing mistakes. I, however, live for them because it gives me something to write about. You might recall the other day that I said I was powerless, having left my computer’s power cord adapter at home. Well, as I packed to leave my daughter’s house yesterday, I discovered said power cord. In a different pocket of my backpack, buried deep within the pocket where I keep my phone and watch charging accessories. How I managed to miss the big charger after taking out the little chargers I’ll never know, but I did.

I made my discovery upon my arrival back home where I also discovered I’d left the charging tips for the new charger at my daughter’s house along with the pill case for my medications. It was a topsy-turvy return home for sure. It appears I’ve entered a left behind stage were I leave things or think I’ve left things. And I even find things. The kids found my nice leather card holder beneath the front seat of my car which is why putting kids in the back seat is a good idea because they find things. And this was a good find because I knew it was lost but had no idea where and certainly never thought that it might have slipped out of my pocket in the car. Wow. Mysteries. I love’em.

And that’s it for now on the embarrassing details of my less than exciting life. I’m sure more will arise shortly. If I’ve done anything consistently well, it’s embarrass myself. My feet and my mouth are fairly well acquainted. Although, I did realized the other day, as I counseled my granddaughter on the secrets of being a good listener and how people find that appealing, that perhaps I have learned to keep my mouth shut. Except here, but I can edit this before it sees the light of day, a function that is missing when I speak. Another better late than never lesson.
