Odds and Ends
For the last two years my son and I have watched a little tree that sprouted in our garden, wondering what it was. We know now. It’s a peach tree.
Tree Time
And I wonder, if I only had one job to do in this life, that maybe planting one tree was a good thing to have accomplished. No one will write a story about me, but the world will know, or at least this part of it.
End of the Drive
What used to be a long look at a wide expanse of pasture is now a short view of trees with the pasture visible only in spots between them. That’s okay. It’s part of the general feeling of the house as it becomes engulfed in trees all around. We’re disappearing.
Thoughts on a Day
Christmas came, as I knew it would. I put up the little tree on Christmas eve. It stands about two feet tall. Then I installed the ceramic nativity set on the hearth. Two essential decorations, one a nod to the commercial, the other a nod to the religious.
Right For the Job
Big day today. I’m scheduled to get a new tool. It should be here this afternoon. It’s a tree puller. Well, little trees to be more specific. The kind that sprout up because birds poop their seeds in bad places.
