Assembly Day

Bought a bird bath yesterday. No birds are bathing yet. I imagine, as with the feeder it will take a little time. I bought the bath because I’d like to see more of the painted bunting, I read they like baths. We’ll see. I also need to figure out if I’m letting myself in for a lot of extra work because someone will have to fill the bath and that someone is me. Seems like a good idea now. We’ll see how that plays out.

I also received a hose reel I ordered and a pair of Bluetooth headphones. Most of the afternoon was spent trying to assemble the reel and figure out how the headphones work. I think I may have set myself up for some disappointment with the latter. They seem a bit more complicated than I like, with tiny buttons, but sometimes that’s just me yearning for plug and play when it’s more like plug, fiddle with controls, and play. Again, we’ll see. I’m reading the instructions like a good boy.

The hose reel has similar problems. Things are moving that probably shouldn’t move. The instructions are mostly tiny pictures that are hard to see. It used to be that people used words to tell us what to do, but now they give us pictures and a pat on the back and let us figure it out for ourselves. Seems weird in a world where the literacy rate is improving to be moving away from words. But we are. And imagine that, we’re back to pictographs. Talk about the circle of life.
