Basketball Diary

It was a quiet day in the yard yesterday. First of all, it rained most of the morning. A welcome sight to be sure. Along with that, there was an unseasonable chill in the air. Coupled with a strong breeze, it made being indoors preferred. So, I stayed. Indoors. When the rain stopped and the sun came out, I ventured onto the porch. There I trimmed the roses as predicted. Got all the deadwood, and some new growth.

After that, I listened to music and muddled around the house. I made applesauce. It’s easier than you think. We’ll have it with dinner today along with a pork loin. Then I got ready to watch my team play in the Final Four. I turned off the sound because announcers these days seem obliged to talk, constantly. Imagine going to a game and having the guy beside you describe every play you just watched and then comment on it. Its like that only louder and there’s usually three of them.

Anyway, we lost. I felt bad and went to the store and bought a box of chocolate covered graham crackers. I haven’t had any in a long while, and they tasted good. During the game, I had one shot of bourbon on ice. It tasted good, too. On Monday, they play the finals. A Baptist school will play a Catholic school for the national title, and I still remember when John F. Kennedy had to convince a group of Protestant ministers it would be okay to elect a Catholic president. I think we’ve come a long way, and that’s good. Afterall, it’s just a game, and I hope the Texas team wins.
