Goings On

I did it. Installed new lights in the China Cabinet. Emptied it. Moved it. Washed most of the display items. Re-displayed everything. I even washed all of my late wife’s blue glass. Put it in the China Cabinet. Previously, it was on the windowsill in the kitchen where it mostly collected dust and grease. Now it’s all sparkly and clean. The windowsill has fewer nicknacks and looks less cluttered. I think I’m going to change the curtains while I’m at it.

I also took her collection of puzzles, about sixty, to Schatze House in Fredericksburg. It’s a resale shop supporting The Grace Center. Seems a good place to put her puzzles back into the universe, rather than have them collecting dust in the attic. They were happy to get them, and I was happy to give them. It seems a nice way to honor her memory. To further that effort, I gave them a copy of the book I compiled from my writings, chronicling our journey through her dementia. I wanted them to know she was a real person.

Today, I’m off to see if I can find a new bedspread. On Tuesday, I’m getting an accent wall painted in the bedroom, and then I’m going to move my bed, and reorganize the room and I think the new bedspread should complement the wall. This will be the third wall against which the bed in this room has been placed. I think it will be a good one. The three windows will be at my back, from whence the morning sun can gently push me out of bed and into the day.
