Good Day

Foliage in McKittrick Canyon, 2023

I had a day yesterday. Got things done. Found a cache of linens, fine napkins, tablecloths. Paid my property taxes. Had my garbage disposal replaced. Bought a new comforter. Bought new pillow shams. Washed windows. Brought down more boxes from the attic. Reorganized them, put more things in them. And I did this while keeping one eye on the phone as my granddaughter competed in a heptathlon in Houston where she finished fourth in the long jump, third in the 800, and broke into the top 10 and scored 3000 points for the first time. Go, girl!

I’m also making plans to have repairs made to my Infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA). It has grown and it is now time. While they’re at it, they’ll also repair my Iliac artery aneurysm, bilateral. Lots of fun terms there. Because I know everyone has studied their anatomy, you’ll realize they’re in a line and close to one another. Best of all, we’ll do it with stents. God willing and the creek don’t rise, I’ll be in and out and back on my feet in no time. And that’s all the news I have right now on that subject because nothing is scheduled at the moment.

But both of the surgeons involved in the process have told me this isn’t an emergency, and I can keep on doing and going until we get the work done. That’s comforting. They’ve also told me I’m in good shape. That’s comforting, too. Rock on. I guess all that walking has paid off. Thanks to my friend in Ozona for starting me down that trail. I think we’ll get to walk a lot more before it’s all said and done because it appears the odds might be in my favor. That’s it for now. Have a great day.
