Impossible Things

The mornings of cold and brisk are at hand. It feels good when I step outside to feed the cats. And it’s really nice when I need to do some work during the day. And there is still work to do, particularly on the little shed. Yesterday I trimmed up the untidy corners, and we’ve decided to close in the open side since it faces west, and the purpose of the shed was to provide shade to the water works. Luckily, I have two extra sheets of old roof tin. So, we’re in business.

The thumb I wrecked is recovering. It seems as though it was only a temporary thing, but it did swell up and turn a nice color purple. There’s residual soreness, but that’s to be expected. Oddly enough it’s the same thumb that knocked me out of a baseball season as a kid in the eighth grade. I was a catcher and took a pitch right on the tip of the thumb. Dislocated it. That’s probably what loosened it up for this latest episode. One upside is that I figured out that it’s best to lightly hold a guitar pick, and that’s helped my technique. Now, if I can just remember it.

On a final note, I’ve decided to look into quantum mechanics. There’s a philosophical component to it and it feels intriguing. It has to do with the Many Worlds Theory, and it sort of starts with Schrödinger's Cat. I’m terrible at math but if an idea is explained slowly enough, I can usually grasp its essential components. To start, there’s a book on the way, called Six Impossible Things. Before I dive in, I’ll tie a string to my belt so that someone can pull me out if I need help.
