Planning
My mind is buzzing today, and not with words to say. I’ve got to travel and that’s an entirely different mindset, especially when there’s a complication. Originally, I thought I was leaving tomorrow. But that got pushed forward. I tried to get today’s afternoon appointment moved up, but that fell through. Now I have to decide if I should reschedule or face a drive to Houston into the teeth of rush hour traffic. I’m leaning toward the latter, simply because I’d like to get the work done. One less thing to worry about next week.
Besides, I’ve spent a lifetime driving in Houston traffic and although it can be slow and agonizing, it always moves at some point, and you always get to where you’re going. And the driving apps are great at alternate routes if things get too sticky. And with that I now have clarity on how my day is going to go, and how does it feel to be a party to the decision making process? Probably puzzling because most people I know hate driving in Houston’s traffic, while I think it’s entirely manageable. Oh, well.
Of course, the one stumbling block in all this is my daughter who might want me to be there early so I can pick up the kids from their afterschool activities as she gets ready to go out of town tomorrow which is the reason for my visit. So, I guess I’ve put the cart right in front of the horse and now I’ll check with her to see what she was expecting, and that’s how planning goes. But now I’ve got mini essay done, and that’s one thing out of the way, and I’ll let you know tomorrow how it turned out today.
