Springy Things
I had a talk with the machine yesterday. Here’s how it went. I took the cowling off the gas tank. Disconnected the two fuel lines. Blew into one of them to clear any debris. Reconnected the lines. Turned the starter. Fuel flowed into the filter. Replaced the cowling. Mowed. I have no idea how my actions cleared up whatever was stopping my mower from running. What I did was a slightly more complicated version of simply banging on the machine.
During the mowing, I saw more thistles. When I finished, I returned and dug them up. I also noticed the Lemon Bee Balm has returned to the field. It complicates the thistle hunt, however, because the Bee Balm blooms are purple, and that’s a tasty alliteration if I say so myself. And I’m going to say so, because I’m writing this, and I can say whatever I want. That includes giving myself compliments or acknowledging my turns of phrase.
Anway, I’m glad the Bee Balm is back because I love the blooms and they’re a nice part of spring. And speaking of spring, so far, locally we’ve had a wettish spring. The local lakes, however, are still suffering. Canyon Lake, for instance, is at levels not seen since the 60s when it started filling up. Maybe this year’s hurricane season will make a difference. Twenty-five named storms and 12 hurricanes are forecast. But we all know the blessing of water can also be a curse, so maybe we should be careful about the wishes we make.
