The Caregiver’s Tales
Tiny essays on life, nature, grief and other things that catch my fancy in the Texas Hill Country. Here’s how it all got started.

A Lesson
I have a touch of dry eye. An outflow, no doubt, of my recent surgery where I was immobilized for the better part of two weeks. I fell under the lure of the small screen and watched too many videos.

Heading in this morning for the second cataract surgery. Today it’s the left eye. I can hardly wait. I was apprehensive beyond belief for the first surgery. This time, knowing what to expect, more or less, I’m all in and ready to go.

Healing Arts
Took the day off yesterday. Had a follow-up visit with my eye surgeon. I now have 20/20 vision in my right eye. Feels unbalanced.
Eyeball Work
The big day approaches. Cataract surgery. It’s coming on Thursday. My right eye. I admit I’m nervous. I mean I have two eyes. Lose one and I’m fifty percent down.
